These rules were last updated May 19, 2011. You are responsible for checking the rules regularly.
Please remember that there is tremendous diversity in age, race, gender, language, location (worldwide) and more here on RadioDaddy and there will be a lot of varying opinions on different subjects. We are all human beings and we are all drawn to this site because we have a common interest in the art of voiceovers. Please be polite and follow the rules of the site.
If you come across any violations to these rules, do not hesitate to let us know through the “REPORT!” icon on offending posts or via e-mail at support (at) radiodaddy.com. We'll be happy to address your comments and concerns.
Please note that Administrators and Moderators are exempt from these rules and in certain cases, icons may indicate other groups are exempt as well.
VoicePros, ProductionPros, and GraphicsPros are exempt.
Elite members, Honorable Mention members, and RadioDaddy Idol are exempt.
- Members are allowed ONLY one (1) request per day, it doesn’t matter how small your request is.
- For each response you receive, you are REQUIRED to leave a positive reputation comment. Learn more by clicking here.
- “Bumping” (posting useless information, making corrections or updates in a new post, posting one-liners or any other action to deliberately keep a thread hot or to bring it to the top of its forum) your request is prohibited.
- If you PM (private message) a voice artist for a free voiceover, you will be removed from this website without warning or explanation. ONLY contact voice artists via PM if you wish to buy their voice at full price. See PM Abuse for more info.
- Members are permitted a maximum of one account per IP address, regardless of how many companies you represent.
- All accounts will be disabled if you violate this restriction. Please contact us if you have forgotten your log in information.
- All posts and signatures are limited to the English language.
- You may not post commission, referral or affiliate links anywhere in the forum. See Advertising/SPAM for more info.
- Do not post adult content or content relating or promoting hate groups, terrorists/terrorist groups, warez, hacking, or other illegal intent. See Be Appropriate for more info.
- Do not promote competing sites. See Competing Sites and Advertising/SPAM for more information.
- Public posts debating these rules and/or moderators enforcement of such, will be removed without comment. We encourage feedback however and invite you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. See Contact Info
Don't attack others. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully without insult and personal attack.
Our volunteers do this in their free time. If you find your request has gone unanswered for 2 days (a full 48 hours) and you’ve followed all of the Request Guidelines in your post, you may PM an administrator or moderator to bump your request. Do NOT bump your request yourself, it will result in it being closed.
Think before you post or PM: Do NOT share your address or telephone number on a public post. Remember that your postings on this public forum will become public. Your text will be available to anyone with an internet connection. We encourage you to keep personal information personal.
Information that should be considered personal includes but is not limited to your home phone number, address, name, and age. If you must give this out for any reason, please do so privately.
Posts containing explicit, obscene or vulgar language will be removed. Links to Websites with adult content/images anywhere on the site will be removed. Simply put, we do not wish to be seen as supporting any site that contains adult content - adult content being defined as any material that you would not feel comfortable showing to your spouse, your teenagers, or your boss and co-workers. We aim to be a family-friendly website.
RadioDaddy or any of its communities do not allow membership to any anti, advocate or terrorism/terrorist groups or any group or individual supporting or helping in any way such activities or groups.
Do not attempt to defeat censors put in place by RadioDaddy by adding spaces, dots, or substituting characters in obscene words.
This represents our values and our desire to appeal to the widest possible audience not to mention keeping clear of any restrictions that our present or future advertisers might have regarding acceptable content.
Learn from these examples to see how you should format your request.
Do NOT say/do:
- "I need these A.S.A.P.!"
Paid work will get you them much quicker. If it is a priority in your life to have these lines recorded, many of the Voice Artists will work with you to give you a great discount on their services.
- "WASSUP DAWG! DJ EXTREME-DOUBLE-GANGSTA IS IN DA MIX ON DA WUNS AND TOOS ON HSGGDTT RADIO!!!!
This one combines all kinds of problems. If you want a properly recorded voiceover, your request needs to be easily read, not in text messaging lingo, and any possible word that could be mispronounced has to be spelled phonetically. It's to your benefit to make sure your request is easily understood. Garbage in = garbage out.
- PRIVATE MESSAGE "I like your sound! Could you record this for me?"
The rules still do not allow for requests in a Private Message. The Voice Artists here receive dozens of these a week. Members who do this will be banned.
Instead, format your request like this:
-“Hello there, could I request a dry read of a deep male voice, possibly mid-40’s, with an English accent, saying “You’re listening to DJ Leon on Hit 104 FM” (with DJ Leon being pronounced Dee Jay Lee On). Thank you so much”
Keep your request short and simple, maybe no more than 4 lines max and include pronunciation. And if one talent records only one line, thank them, give them a +rep, and be patient. Do not post "Hey, you missed the other three drops."
If you really want to appeal to voice artists, you can even offer a donation with your request! See Requests with Donations
We don't intend to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, but we will enforce the policies outlined both here and in specific forums.
We reserve the right to remove, modify or move posts at our discretion and without explanation.
Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for RadioDaddy to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that RadioDaddy does not actively monitor the contents of all posted messages and is not responsible for any messages posted. RadioDaddy does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and is not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of RadioDaddy or any entity associated with RadioDaddy.
RadioDaddy has the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if it is determined that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately, in fact, we may not edit or delete posts that break our rules at all.
You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless RadioDaddy, Invision Power Services (the makers of the bulletin board software), and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).
The user agrees as a condition of registering at RadioDaddy to be truthful in regard to all information given during the registration process, to use the site as per the instructions, not to disclose his password to others for use, and that the site has a license (permission) for use of anything the user submits or posts to the site.
By registering for this site, you acknowledge that we make no guarantee as to the quality of service we provide, nor guarantee that you will receive a free voiceover. This site is run by volunteers, and as such you agree to indemnify and hold harmless RadioDaddy, it's volunteers, and Invision Power Services and their agents with respect to any claim based upon your use of this service.
We at this discussion forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.
We also reserve the right to remove your membership from RadioDaddy should you violate any of these rules.
Do not post the same request more than once on a request forum or on many forums. Duplicate requests are frustrating and counterproductive for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Duplicate requests will be deleted.
Do not place your advertisements through our forums. This will be considered SPAM and could result in the deletion and ban of your account. Affiliate links are not allowed within the forums.
Participants may not use discussions to recommend, praise, or belittle other products or services, or any company; without first hand experience of those products or services. This includes companies recommending other companies. Any post not meeting a moderator's criteria will be removed without notice.
Participants may not publish or discuss any information regarding their product or services, or future (possible) products or services, or any product or services they are, or have been, associated with. This includes, but not limited to suggesting your own services, or services of partners, clients, employers or friends. The Advertising Forums are for advertising and advertising in any other forum will not be tolerated, repeated offenses mean you will be banned from the site.
Personal (or Private) Messaging is provided to our members as a service intended to enhance the Community experience. The purpose of personal messaging is to allow for discreet conversations to take place between members. This privilege is not to be abused! Solicitation, spamming, or harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden. In addition, you may NOT send a private message to a voice artist requesting a voice over or directing them to your post in the forum. Any member or voice artist receiving an inappropriate personal message should forward that message to an Administrator or Moderator right away.
Although PM's are normally only accessible by those who send and receive them, they are part of the database and as such, property of RadioDaddy. An Administrator, if so inclined, can track the Private Messages in the database (including who they were sent to/from) and read them. They are private, but not necessarily secret.
The internet is a big place, and it's no surprise that from time to time a site will come along whose mission is to occupy the same niche as RadioDaddy. We have no issue with that. However, it would be against our best interests, and therefore the best interests of our members, for us to allow such sites to build upon our popularity by promoting themselves on RadioDaddy. Therefore, no competing site may attempt to gain traffic from RadioDaddy in any way, including but not limited to, links in posts, signatures, profile information, PM's, emails, or IM's.
Information copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than the member should not be posted on the forums without the consent of the owner. If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible. RadioDaddy shall not be held responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law.
You cannot legally post audio files in the forum without permission from the copyright holder. Even if you attribute the file correctly, it is still considered copyright infringement. Furthermore, audio files that are “royalty-free” are not exempt from this rule as they are still under copyright by their creator.
Copyright is the most serious offense on this website and a violation will result in immediate account termination. Your IP address will be captured and banned at the firewall.
Signatures must be setup in your profile, and not manually added to your messages.
- You may NOT advertise, link, or solicit within your signature lines. This means you may NOT link to a website, Paypal account, or media source.
- -May contain a maximum of two smilies or one animated smiley.
- -May include only two colors.
- -Maximum font size cannot be larger than 10-point font.
- -Must be kept to a maximum of three lines (at 1024x768 resolution).
- -Any signature that is offensive or insulting to RadioDaddy, its members or its staff is prohibited.
- -We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your signature at any time, for any reason.
First offense will get a warning. Second offense: Suspension of account for no less then 30 days. Third offense: Permanent banning of your account.
Depending on the severity of the offense, RadioDaddy reserves the right to ban an account immediately without warning or edit your signature line at anytime.
The shoutbox is not a place to advertise your site, work, or to ask for voice overs. Please refrain from posting such things in the shoutbox. Use the proper forum to post your site, your service etc. Posting advertisements in the shoutbox may result in your account being suspended.
All requests offering payment MUST have the physical amount you are offering in the post, a simple "Will give donation" will not suffice. Post your request in the Requests with Donations forum.
Once you’ve posted your request with the donation amount, you will receive watermarked samples from artists. Once you choose the voice you want, send your donation (usually via PayPal) to that artist and they will upload your un-watermarked audio file.
DO NOT use the watermarked files in any of your sets or radio show, as it is considered stealing and you can/will be sued for the full market price.
Note to VoicePros and other members contributing to donation requests: You MUST watermark your response. If you do not, admins WILL remove your post. Once you receive the donation from the requestor, you must post the clean copy. Failure to do so will result in further investigation and possible loss of VP status.
These rules apply to the Generic Bits Forum Category:
What is the 'Generic Bits' Forum for?
This forum is for exchanging generic bits that are NOT COPYRIGHTED.
Anyone found to be intentionally "trashing" or "trolling" in another user's thread will be suspended. As well no copyrighted material is allowed in this forum unless you can prove that the copyright is owned by you or that you have permission to distribute the work freely. If copyrighted material is found in this forum the user who posts it will be warned the first time and suspended the second time.
This forum is not a place for you to criticize another user's post or reply. Please allow time before expecting people to reply to your request, and DO NOT talk down or henceforth please be kind to those radio voiceover pros who reply to your post(s).
Keep your posts clean.
Please understand that most of the voiceover professionals that reply to your post are in business too, therefore please consider their services at a later time as nobody works for free.
The poster must provide a copy of the script of which they are seeking voicing. And not, simply, direct users to contact them via email, pm, etc to find out about the details, etc.
A first violation of the forum rules may result in a minimum of a three day suspension from the 'Generic Bits Forum' to give the poster time to review and understand Forum Policy. Any further violation will result in your account being permanently disabled.
The RadioDaddy Community Leaders will have the final say as to what is and isn't a violation of Forum rules.
We will not release any member information unless under court order to do so. We reserve the right to modify and amend these terms at any time without notice. It is your responsibility to remain informed of current RadioDaddy policies. If there are any rules or policies you do not understand, you may contact us. Finally; any abuse towards our staff and/or management in any form, may result in immediate suspension of your account as well as you being banned from the forum.
